What Is ADHD?
ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental condition that leads to challenges with focus, impulsivity, and behavior. It is generally classified into three types:
-
Inattentive Type
This type makes it difficult to maintain attention, follow directions, or complete tasks. Individuals may seem forgetful, easily distracted, or disorganized, and may struggle with planning or prioritizing responsibilities at school or work. -
Hyperactive-Impulsive Type
This form appears differently across age groups. While children may fidget, interrupt others, or act impatiently, adults might exhibit impulsive behaviors like overspending or misuse of substances, rather than physical hyperactivity. -
Combined Type
This most common form includes features from both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive types.

How Is ADHD Diagnosed?
Kema Health Services uses structured rating scales and objective testing like Creyos ADHD assessments to evaluate both adults and children. These tools include a series of questions aimed at measuring symptom intensity and impact. Symptoms evaluated may include:
- Trouble maintaining focus
- Difficulty concentrating or completing tasks
- Acting without thinking
- Excessive restlessness or fidgeting
- Repetitive or compulsive behavior
- Social or interpersonal challenges
- Academic or professional struggles
- Sudden anger or emotional outbursts
- Issues with emotional regulation
Some assessments may include additional questions depending on individual concerns. The team adjusts scoring methods to ensure the most precise diagnosis possible. Patients rate symptoms using a numerical scale, usually from 0 to 3. A zero means the symptom is never experienced, while a three reflects frequent or constant occurrence. For young children, parents complete the questionnaire. Adolescents and adults complete their assessments independently.
